Pastoral Prayer:
Gracious Father we come to you today saying thank you for your mercy, love and grace. On this day we ask for a special blessing for this a new season. Help me to call upon our Lord for guidance; call upon Jesus Christ for his undying love and call upon the Holy Spirit for wisdom. Cover this Word with your Spirit; Gracious Lord, nurture us through your Word, teach us to accept the freedom, release us from fear and unforgiveness so that we may receive your Power. O’ Lord, let us know that your love is enough. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Reflection: What a week in the Lord! Alright, it’s early February and we are preparing for Lent…while some of us are trying to determine what we will give up for forty days and others are still trying to determine which days should be counted, it’s just good to know God is still in the blessing business. He still speaks to our souls. He still comes to places in our lives and shows us the way and he still fulfills the prophecy through the covenant. This morning I want to share a word titled, “What did you hear?”
Have you ever had an experience that was so hard to believe? Instead of taking your own pulse about the sighting, you turn to a friend and simply ask them, “what did you hear?” That’s right, I didn’t say what did you see! For when things are really tough to accept at face value, we sometimes rub our eyes and we ask about what we have heard. Suddenly, we find ourselves attempting to put 2 & 2 together and our mind is challenged by the vision and we ask the question, “what did you hear?”
